A profession for versatile interested people
Do you have fun being in touch with people? Perhaps you are also interested in other countries and languages? And you don’t fear numbers and maths?
Then, the industrial clerk is a quite good profession for you. As an industrial clerk you represent the interests of your company both at home and abroad. Therefore, this profession is this sophisticated, diversified and favoured. Anyhow, nation-wide there are more than 54,000 apprentices per year starting their apprenticeship as an industrial clerk, this is 3.3 % of all apprentices. As a future industrial clerk you will become acquainted with all areas of your company: storage department, purchase department, process planning, accounting department, marketing, sales department, cost accounting, as industrial clerks need a good overview over all operational processes. They have at least to be qualified later on in commercial thinking and trade.
What happens after the apprenticeship?
Industrial clerks are working in the purchase department, sales department, marketing, human resources department, cost and activity accounting or in the accounting department at BERCHTOLD. Most of the industrial clerks trend to go to the sales department after apprenticeship. There, they are in regular contact with the customers, are familiar with all formalities within the project management and are tightly working together with other colleagues and departments. Anyone, who is proving there of value and likes to travel can become an area manager. An area manager clarifies details of existing orders on site with the customer. Nevertheless, whether in Düsseldorf or Dubai. For young people who are interested in international business administration and foreign languages and an education at the university of cooperative education is however too extensive for them, BERCHTOLD is offering good further training possibilities. During your apprenticeship you can acquire an additional qualification “International Economic Management incl. foreign languages”.
For who makes it actually sense to become an industrial clerk?
For many apprentices interpersonal contacts are quite important. If you are - beyond that - also interested in numbers, facts and referring connections the profession as a male or female industrial clerk will certainly bring a lot of fun for you.
